Home Automation

Since a lot of sensors have gotten really cheap and connecting them to Wifi is even cheaper this topic got me hooked.
Add a few lamps for example home automation is not far away. I don't think it is neccessary for me or even sensible to have my home control itself. But I find it interesting to implement ideas and then live with them in like a self-experiment.
A simple example would be the brightness adjustment of room lights. During the day lights can be as bright as possible but during the night this would hurt my eyes. This would be an easy task to automate if the lights can be controlled and if theres at least one light sensor somewhere.
